Don’t hang out with the chicken’s, Fly with the eagles! Bishop T D Jakes

One of the most memorable moments at the Oprah class in Toronto on Monday was Bishop Jakes bobbing his head and flapping his elbows like a chicken!

He told us how chickens are always looking down, always trying to fly but if they take flight , they fall quickly to the ground. They also have a nasty habit of eating their own poop!  Sadly many people live their life this way, I bet you have known or still know someone who is always sad or negative, who always tells the negative stories over and over essentially eating there own poop as the only story they know. If they have any positive energy it comes in a quick blast and within a day they are back to repeating the same negative crap! I have known many people like this and heck I have even been this person at times in my life before I matured.

Instead of hanging out in the chicken coop, consider flying with the eagles. Eagles soar in the sky with their 9 foot spanned wings. When a thunderstorm or heavy winds are challenging an eagle, the eagle will fly into the storm and face it head on. The Eagle will mate with their partner in the sky and were the first members of the mile high club!

Another important message in this area was to make sure you have more people that make emotional deposits to your life than people that take withdrawls.

For many years I looked to surround myself with people who needed me.  I attracted men who were troubled and needed me, I felt comfortable there. I knew I was making a difference and the more that people drained me the more I knew I was valuable and worthy.

I have grown in the last 2 years dramatically in this area. I now avoid people who do not have a balanced approach to life. If you are unable to look inside to find your own answers and strength I am more than willing to have a conversation. This however, can no longer be a habit of dramatic stories that are always popping up and needing me.  I will be happy to point you to a therapist or to a support group of people who will be there for you in the way you need it.

I have very few close friends now and I am ok with that, I can find most of my answers to my own challenges within myself. I have people who will always be close to my heart.  I have family members who are absolutely flying with the eagles and I love knowing they are always lifting me up and pointing me forward! I have acquaintances that are great people and they are the ones that I will always be there for!

My 18 year old has matured into these better choices already. I am so incredibly proud to see him being very specific about the people he allows close to him. He still has a ton of acquaintances like me and I know with this approach he will be flying with the eagles for the rest of his life!

So thank you to Bishop T D Jakes for reminding me of this amazing point!

Do you have any chickens in your life that you should be spending less time with?

Hugs

Michelle
